The concept of dental implants is relatively new in the field of dentistry. Nevertheless, its roots can be traced back to much older times. Ever since people began to recognize the importance of preserving teeth in their natural form, treatments and solutions to do so began taking shape. Traditionally, for tooth cavities- there was extraction and for uneven teeth- there were dentures.
However, with changing times, dental implants emerged and since then they have proved to be nothing short of a revolution. The basic procedure involved with dental implants is that regardless of the kind of disease haunting your teeth, they are replaced by restoring them to their most natural form! Any disease this could be?
Hello everyone! I am a 19 year old female. I am concerned for my health as I have quite a few random health problems and I was wondering if they were connected. I have consulted my doctor but she brushed off the concern.
I suffer from Adie’s Tonic Pupil, meaning my left pupil is constantly and consistently dilated. I had multiple CT scans, MRIs and was referred to an optometrists, ophthalmologist and neuro-opthalmolgist before I was diagnosed. There is no known cause or cure of Adies. In addition, I have Celiac disease.
Over the past year and a half, I have had 3 surgeries. 1 for dental implants (I am missing nine adult teeth, no none reason why, my final baby teeth were removed in the surgery and implants were placed), and 2 to remove a recurrent osteochondroma on my foot that has recurred a total of 3 times now. I went through (and still continue to experience) multiple imaging studies, CT, xray, MRI, MRI with gadillium, bone scan, radioactive bone scan. The doctors were very worried that it was cancer or osteomyelitis. It was finally diagonsed as a osteochodroma and was removed. I was told it would not recur at all and yet it came back within a month after removal. They were very painful surgeries with six – eight weeks on crutches after each surgery. I still have the osteochondroma but they have decided the only way to stop it’s return is to remove the metatarsals and fuse my foot together with hip bone, and I have opted against the surgery.
Finally, even as a 19 year old, I have still not had a period.
I know that this is a vague medical history, but my doctor continues to brush off my concerns. Perhaps she is correct but I am asking for my own peace of mind and curiosity. I am just wondering if there is an underlying cause as to why I have so many random and different medical conditions. Thank you.

Answer
Find a new doctor immediately. Your problems are all very serious and merit seeing a endocrinologist and getting to the bottom of what seems to be auto-immune related. You have outgrown a physician that brushes off the symptoms of a larger picture.
